SERVICES
Most of our children leave home without the essentials. We address immediate needs and provide items necessary for their new placements. Unfortunately, CPS lacks the budget for critical items like beds, mattresses, sheets, pillows, duffle bags, pack and plays, and car seats. We also cover tutoring costs, medical expenses not covered by Medicaid, gifts for Christmas and birthdays, seasonal clothing, graduation caps and gowns, and fees for extracurricular activities to help children build confidence and integrate with peers., we've started covering hotel stays for domestic violence victims, as well as expenses for haircuts, ethnic hair care, and prom. We welcome special requests for anything that might be needed for the child or family to maintain stability at home and evaluate our ability to fulfill those needs. Additionally, we provide cleaning supplies for those fulfilling court-ordered services to keep their children at home.
Go Bags
We pack go bags in sizes preemie to adult XL for boys and girls that include items the child will need for the first 48 - 72 hours until the new placement can get them some other things. Types of things we pack include bottles, sippy cups, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrush or comb, hair ties, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, washrag, burp cloth, bibs, pacifiers, deodorant, diapers, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, diaper cream, diapers, blanket, stuffed animal, socks, underwear or pull ups, pajamas, 3 outfits, activity items like coloring books, crayons, books, notebooks, pens, puzzles, drawing books, fidgets, barbies, baby dolls, bubbles, balls, etc.
Rainbow Room
The rainbow room is housed in the CPS office and our organization stocks this room with all the essentials. Along with the go bags, we keep extra clothing, toys, blankets, pillows, sheets, pillowcases, diapers in all sizes, lice kits, cleaning supplies, brooms/mops, car seats, pack and plays, highchairs, playmats and much more.
